New Year's Even in London...

Today was my official first day of really sight-seeing in London. My jetlag was so bad on Day One, I just kind of walked around the city zombified. However, the weather is actually really nice. It's in the high 40s for you back in the states.

Here's a picture of my bed in my hotel (also the student's orientation site) and a view of Bedford Street from my window.

I went down to Trafalgar Square to see what they had set up for NYE tonight. Interestingly enough, all the lamp posts have been "greased up" so that no one will be climbing them and falling on their little heads tonight.

I also saw a few "landmarks" from Harry Potter fame. I saw the entrance to the ministry of magic and the alley that inspired Diagon Alley.

I went through Covenant Garden which is a huge market place and was very busy. So many little shops and boutiques. I got coffee at a little shop and headed to the National Portrait Gallery. It was free to get in and they had a pop art exhibition going on. Also, the had a really breath-taking exhibit of Princess Diana. No cameras are allowed in the gallery so I couldn't get photos.

My first video will be tomorrow when I pick the students up as they arrive on their group flight. Look for more information tomorrow and have a great new year!

Cheers!

Bill
